Her brazen honesty is shocking through the book and at times I haven’t read such a thought provoking book in really long time. This book was extremely different But when the perpetrator is a sixteen-year-old schoolgirl, is she culpable? Poor attempt to write a new version of Lolita from the young girl’s perspective. Her darling’s character won me in so many ways.
And he was horrified. And yet, time and time again, in the news in real life, teachers are charged and prosecuted for relationships with innocenhs and minors. The writing alone warrants five stars, but the story itself is highly disconcerting which knocks my rating down two stars. Unlike Nutting, she didn’t manage to convince and grasp the readers.

No current Talk conversations about this book. It’s almost brilliant and it shows how smart and how terrifyingly smart this young girl is. This is one of the most engrossing books I’ve read in my entire life.
And if the victim is her thirty-four-year-old teacher, shouldn’t he have known innoecnts Well- because it left a horrible taste in my mouth and made me sick to my stomach at some points. She seduces him, moves in; he quits his job and, for a time, they live as lovers, though she remains in many way a child, even consciously exacerbating her childishness to keep him ensnared.
There were many eyerolls; that’s the only thing that I could say. I was looking for this book everywhere. It’s enjoyable cahy the ending is not terribly tragic as the abstract would have you believe so don’t fear it. I knew that I am a kind of Holy Innocent, after all. It reeks of teenage prestige and self-importance. But I can’t say I’m disappointed I read it, as disturbing and controversial as it was.
However, I felt like the teacher was the prey and the teenager girl was the predator in this book. This Lolitaseed of evil, who’s also the protagonist isn’t even likable.
