This is a great book even if you aren’t interested in writing about crime or going into law enforcement, for it will help you to understand the occupational complexities of those who are sworn to protect and defend us.
I also plan on talking to several retired detectives to bounce my storyline s off them, but this book was also a very helpful read for me. The lack of editing has me giving this a 3 star instead of higher.

Author Lee Loffland does an excellent job of both presenting the procedure, explaining the hows and whys of it, but also presenting methods to incorporate these procedures in your writing. From this book you’ll learn the basics about each type of law enforcement policee, procedure, crime scene investigation, equipment, autopsies, and all that CSI stuff that TV makes looks so easy peasy but in reality is not.
